Smithtown SEPTA (Special Education PTA)

WE ARE HERE TO SUPPORT YOU. WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT.
Approximately 10% of the students in our school district receive special education services. Special education students include children placed in special class (self-contained), integrated (inclusion), resource room, out of district (BOCES/private special education school), or receiving speech, occupational therapy (OT), physical therapy (PT), or counseling services. Now, more than ever, parents, teachers, and administrators need to work together efficiently to help our children have an educational experience that meets their needs and give them the greatest opportunity to learn.
Why Join SEPTA?
· Learn about the laws regarding special education and other relevant topics.
· Tap into the rich resources of other parents who have faced the same as you.
· Participate in open dialog between parents, teachers and administrators.
· Speakers, programs and resources designed to assist your day to day efforts with your child.
· Create solutions that will positively impact you directly and our entire school community.
The majority of your Membership fee funds scholarships for graduating special education students. These scholarships go a long way in assisting that student and their family to obtain the resources they need to either continue in their education or begin a career.
We are appealing to all parents, teachers and administrators. A SEPTA Membership is only $10.00. Your $10.00 will go a long way. Please Join Today.
